  1. Before installing your Bright Ideas¿ fonts, first, check your system software version
  2.  
  3. Before you install your Bright Ideas¿ fonts,  you need to know the version number of System 7 you are using. To see the version number:

  5. Click on the Menu Bar Apple
  6. Select "About This Macintosh"
  7. Note System Software number: 7.0, 7.1 or , 7.5

  9. How to install Macintosh fonts

  11. Installing TrueType Fonts (Recommended, if you do not use Adobe Type Manager)
  12. Insert this disk in your CD-ROM drive. The Bright Ideas¿ window opens.

  14. Find the Fonts icon and open (double click) it. You will see eight folders.

  16. Open the folder with the font name you want to install; each folder contains two sub-folders. (TrueType or Type 1). We recommend that you use TrueType if you do not use Adobe Type Manager.

  18. Open the TrueType folder. You'll see a suitcase icon with an "A" and a shortened version of the font name. .

  20. For System 7.X drag'n drop (click, hold the button down and move) the suitcase, from the folder on the CD-ROM to the System Folder. You'll see  this  message displayed:

  22. "Fonts need to be stored in the Fonts Folder╔"

  24. Select OK. The font is copied to the Fonts folder inside the System Folder.

  26.  The font is now available.

  29. Installing Type 1 Fonts (Recommended, if you use Adobe Type Manager for high-end output services)
  30. For System 7.1, and higher, Type 1 fonts, are installed the same way as TrueType fonts.

  32. Please notice that TrueType fonts have only one icon;  Type 1 fonts have two, or sometimes three icons to a folder. Just  select all the icons that appear in any Type 1 folder and drag'n drop them on the System Folder.

  34. System 7.0, has one important exception: the Type 1 printer icon needs to be manually moved to the Extensions Folder.

  36. Moving The Type 1 Printer Icon  (System 7.0 users only)
  37. drag'n drop all the font's icons onto the System Folder. After you see the message: "Fonts need to be stored in the Fonts Folder" and click OK , do this:

  39. Open the System Folder ( double-click on it ) 
  40. Locate the Fonts folder and open it.
  41. Find the printer Icon for the font ( the one you just copied to the System Folder).
  42. Drag'n drop the printer icon onto the Extensions Folder.

  44. The font is now be available.

  46. NOTE: Never Install a TrueType and Type 1 font with the same name.
